Meet Gautam ‘Gary’ Barve
I was born American in New Jersey in 1984. My family relocated to India when I was 4, where I attended and completed my schooling, with a keen interest in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. I then received my Engineering Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science.
I have always loved America, consider myself to be American, and yearned to move back to the United States, so after college, I relocated to Massachusetts, just outside of Boston to work as a Business Analyst for a Financial Software Company, managing software projects for multiple Fortune 500 Companies. In 2010, I relocated to Dallas, Texas, to pursue my full time MBA at Southern Methodist University, concentrating in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Strategy.
In 2012, just as I completed my MBA degree, tragedy struck. I was diagnosed with clinical depression type illness. With the help and support of family and friends, and a lot of hard work, I overcame this obstacle, and relocated to Santa Clara, CA in 2013 to work as a Sales Executive for a technology company.
Once in Santa Clara, I soon began to realize that working in technology was not my calling in life. Serving my community is what gives me immense satisfaction and a sense of purpose. As President Donald Trump mentions, Find work you are really passionate about, and then just do it. I live by this statement.
I am fighting to make Santa Clara a better place to live for Santa Clarans by making the city more business friendly, while making sure that the community receives all essential services. I might not be the best speaker or the most polished presenter, but I make up for it with a relentless work ethic, often working from 5 am to 10 pm six days a week, and am willing to stay tough and work together to win on November 3rd 2020.
I hope that I will be able to win the support of my fellow Santa Clarans in District 6, and I look forward to getting the honor and opportunity to serve you.
